Haiku - June 1

Running to the sun
With my true love beside me
I am so lucky

Two step behind program

Tonight around 7ish, my amazing other half biked down to where I work. I changed into my running shorts and tank top, slapped some sunscreen on my arms and we headed out the door. We zipped down Grant Street to hit up the jail trail. He rode his bike as slowly as possible and I took more jogging steps than any other full grown human. It gave me time out of this basement office. It gave us time together, time to talk. It gave me motivation to run just a bit further than if I’d been alone. He was always right there for me, asking why I’d slowed down or offering me water and laughing when it splashed on my face.

We got to experience the night and the city better than most dates. We were living our life together.

I know that this won’t be every night but I don’t think I can feel more thankful for those 5.26 miles with the man that I love.
